Eddie Wittchow

Eddie grew up in Burnsville, Minnesota, where he began playing hockey at the age of four and developed a passion for the game that would take him through every level of competition. After a successful high school career, he was selected by the Florida Panthers in the 2011 NHL Draft and also drafted into the USHL by the Waterloo Blackhawks. He spent one season in Waterloo, earning USHL First Team All-Rookie honors, before beginning his collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin.

During his four seasons with the Badgers, Eddie developed into a leader both on and off the ice, serving as team captain during his senior season while also earning Big Ten All-Academic honors all four years. Following college, he signed an entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers organization and spent two seasons with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds.

Eddie’s professional career continued for several more seasons, including time in Finland’s top professional league (Liiga), three seasons with the Hershey Bears, the AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, and his final professional season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the Seattle Kraken organization. Along the way, he was honored as the Springfield Thunderbirds’ AHL Man of the Year for his impact both on and off the ice.

Since retiring from professional hockey in 2023, Eddie has dedicated his time to player development, helping athletes navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with advancing through the game. His coaching focuses on position-specific skill development, hockey IQ, video analysis, and mentorship for both forwards and defensemen.

Eddie’s coaching philosophy centers on meeting each athlete where they are in their development. He believes there is no single path to success in hockey, and that every player deserves an individualized approach tailored to their goals, strengths, and areas for growth. Players who work with Eddie can expect honest feedback, attention to detail, and a commitment to building habits that translate to long-term success both on and off the ice.
