Jake Parenteau

Jake Parenteau is a former collegiate and professional hockey player, performance coach, and Director of Operations at Best Shift Hockey & Training. A Minnesota native, Jake played collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota before advancing to the professional ranks, including time with the Iowa Wild and Orlando Solar Bears.

Following his playing career, Jake transitioned into coaching with a passion for helping athletes maximize their potential both on and off the ice. He has spent the past several years working with players of all ages and skill levels, from youth hockey to junior, collegiate, and professional athletes. His experience spans skill development, skating, hockey IQ, performance mindset, mobility, breathwork, and long-term athlete development.

As a coach, Jake believes that true development goes beyond goals, points, and wins. His approach combines high-level hockey instruction with mindset training, accountability, confidence building, and performance habits that help athletes succeed in sport and life. Drawing from his own experiences as an athlete, Jake understands the pressures, challenges, and expectations players face and works to equip them with the tools needed to perform under pressure while remaining authentic to who they are.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Jake is an Oxygen Advantage Certified Coach and regularly incorporates breathing, recovery, mobility, and nervous system regulation strategies into his development programs. His mission is to help athletes build confidence, resilience, and self-awareness while developing the skills necessary to compete at the highest level.

Players who work with Jake can expect a positive, challenging, and supportive environment that emphasizes effort, consistency, accountability, and growth. His goal is to help every athlete become the best version of themselves—both as a player and as a person.
